Some experiences can't be told like others. Because they don't follow an itinerary, but an emotion. Because they don't tick boxes, but awaken the senses. Because they can't really be bought: they have to be experienced.
From 31 May to 7 June, a group of tourism professionals took part in a cruise against the current - in every sense of the word - aboard the dahabeya Sekhmeta traditional sailing boat gliding slowly along the waters of the Nile. A suspended journey, far from the crowds, to the heart of a gentle, sunny and human Egypt.
A silent, intimate, lively Egypt
From Luxor to the gates of Aswan, the Nile unrolls its thousand-year-old ribbon. Each port of call is a whisper of history: the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, the majestic temple of Abu Simbel or the columns of Karnak bathed in golden light. But the real luxury of this trip lies in silence between visitsIn the lapping of the river in the morning, in the conversations on the bridge, in the sunrises that no one photographs because everyone else is watching.
Far from the standard itineraries, this cruise offers a another way of looking at Egypt slower, more sensory, more connected to what's essential.
A boat with royal charm
The dahabeya Sekhmet, named after the Egyptian goddess with the head of a lioness, has nothing to envy from luxury hotels. Spacious cabins, fine wood, immaculate linen, subdued lighting... But above all: space. The silence. And that rare feeling of floating in a painting.
The crew, benevolent, discreet and attentive, look after everyone's well-being. Mint tea served at all hours, dinners under the stars, soft music at dusk. Here, comfort is not imposed: it accompanies.
Travelling with all the senses
Every moment becomes a sensory memory. The taste of vegetables simmering in the on-board kitchen. The smell of warm sand after a walk. The laughter of the captain sharing a sailing anecdote. The shiver of the wind in the canvas of the sails. The unique light of the Nile, changing and captivating.
This is a a rare form of luxury today authenticity.
Professional and human experience
This trip was originally designed for tourism professionals. The aim? To enable them to experience what their customers would experience. Better advice, better sales, but also... better dreams. Because this type of holiday touches something deep down: the need to slow down, to reconnect, to feel.
Far from being a simple eductour, it was a powerful human experienceIt was a time of sharing, enthusiasm and sparkling glances over a cup of coffee at dawn.
To be continued...
Perhaps tomorrow this cruise will be included in our Breeziful selection. In the meantime, one thing is certain: Egypt is best experienced when it takes the time to reveal itself.
And the Nile never lets itself be tamed in haste.
